Resumen (ES)

The purpose of the study to evaluate the results of
the treatment of conminuted subtrochanteric fractures in old
patients treated with long gamma nail. Twenty five patients
with more than 60-years-of-age that suffered a conminuted
subtrochanteric femoral fracture were treated. Follow-up
time was 12 months in 17 of them. We studied the bone consolidation,
time of weight bearing and early or late complications.
In 16 cases the fracture consolidated in 6 months, with
the beginning of weight bearing in 14 days. We had one case
with femoral non-union and nail fracture associated. Long
gamma nail is a good technique for the treatment of conminuted
subtrochanteric fractures in old population, with a very
few number of complications.
