Resumen (ES)

Eighty percent of patients with Gaucher’s disease suffer from bone symptoms, being avascular necrosis of the femoral head one of the most disabling manifestations and the first cause of osteoarticular surgery. Cemented total hip arthroplasty has been the treatment of choice when a great articular damage is present, but the high rate of loosening casts a shadow on mid and long-term results. Sustitutive enzymatic therapy has decreased postoperative complications, and has also enabled the use of cementless components obtaining similar results as in prosthesis implanted by other etiologies. We present a series of 5 cementless total hip arthroplasties, with a mean follow up of 12.4 years (3.4-30) in 4 patients with type I Gaucher’s disease and femoral head osteonecrosis. Only one case of aseptic loosening was observed after 18 years since the surgical procedure.
