Resumen (ES)

Systems for internal fixation of fractures are still evolving. Current knowledge in materials, biomechanicsand biology of fracture healing becomes in new internal fixation devices. One of the most commonproblems and more difficult to solve, is the surgical treatment of osteoporotic fractures. Fixation failure andsubsequent reoperations cause severe complications in these patients. In this paper we review some of the developmentsin fracture fixation systems, most of them aimed to treat patients with osteoporotic fractures.
