27 cases of fracture of the proximal humerus are presented. They were treated by closed reductionand internal fixation with a proximal locking humeral nail. The results were satisfactory at most of the patients concerningthe residual pain (mean Constant-Murley pain score: 11,67/15), the strength (mean Constant-Murley strengthscore: 14/25) and joint mobility of the shoulder (mean Constant-Murley mobility score: 20,52/40). The most importantcomplications were rotator cuff disorders (29,6%), varus consolidation of fracture (29,6%) and prominent hardware(18,5%). The proximal humeral nail is a good method of treatment for fractures of the proximal humerus whenit is used in simple fractures.
