An experimental study on the response of the bone after cementation into the medullar cavity under isquemia by torniquet of the limb is carried out. The bone changes obtained were compared with those obtained in the other tibia of the dog also cemented but with undisturbed blood supply. The follow up was studied along one year. In both series, a complete necrosis of the cortical bone of the shaft appeared, followed by a surrounding new bone which became progressively mature.Therefore, it is suggested that the most importan effect of cementation into the medullar cavity is mechanical with vascular effects. The thermical and chemical action of the polymerization seems to be much less important...
