Haemophilic arthropathy pathogenesis is reviewed paying special emphasis to the experimental possibilitieso. 9 young rabbits were used for the first experiment, in order to get a haemophilic arthropathy experimental reproduction in a weight-bearing jointo They were injected daily with 1 mm of homologous blood in the knee-joint during periods ranging from 1 to 12 weeks, and after the synovium and articular cartilage was studied by optical and electron microscopy.In the changes produced by repeated haemarthros the study was focussed on the existence of iron within the condrocite. The experimental model is discussed in the light of our findings.
