Resumen (ES)

Osteoarticular changes in Leprosy are so lar classified as specific and non specific. Specific ones are due to Hansen's bacilli inlection and typified by cystic osteitis. Non specific ones are not related to Hansen's bacilli and here are included osteoartritis, acroosteolisis, Charcot joints, osteoporosis, etc.The study 01 clinical records and X=ray 01 700 patients 01 leprosy and the review of osteoarticular pathologic changes 01 150 patient's specimens shows sorne interesting findings. The osteoarticular changes show the typical clinical and X=ray manifestations described in medical literature. However there are intermediate forms suggesting a transition. These lesions are due to inlection 01 Hansen's bacilli in all clínical lorms, the inlection being intrinsic and observed in osteoarticular structures but lor Charcot joints, in which infection is extrinsic affecting the corresponding nerve.Secondary infection is a complication of plantar ulcer and osteomielitis may follow.E.N .L. cystic osteitis, osteoartritis, erosive arthritis and osteoporosis are true early forms of acroosteolisis although clinical course may stop and even reverse regenerating bone structure, in lavourable circunstances.
