An experimental study in the knee of the rabbit is planned in order analize the results afther fixed immovilisation for a period of 1 to 14 weeks in a functional position (flexionin the rabbit) and the maximum extension. The changes of the articular cartilague begins with a subchondral hyperemiae followed by histological changes in the own cartilague until its whole destruction.The comparative histological findings show that the lessions appear earlier and are more severe if the immovilisation was in a non-functional position in the rabbit (full extension).
