In order to explain the phenomenon in the nerve by atrappement, an experimental work was performed in rats. The morphology and histocytometric studies showed that the proximal swelling of the nerve in comparison to the atrapped area is in conexion with the interaxional distance. The explanation might be due to secondary edema by oclusion of the «vasa nervorum» and also by swelling of the axon itself by estasis.
