Resumen (ES)

Segmental fusion of the lumbar spine, produce a reduction of motion on the disc above and below. In the surgical group, the rate of pseudoarthrosis was 12 % of patients and 10 % of segments. Extension of fusion down was required in nine patient (14 por 100), andup, in two patients (3 por 100). It is suggested that previous to this type of fusion the disc above and below should be assesed by flexion-extension x-rays and by discogram.
