A case of intradural discrupture at L4-L5 is presented. Forty one previous cases foundin the literature are reviewed. The pathogenesis of intradural disc rupture is brief1y analyzed,and in this connection the protocols of 92 operations on the lumbar spine werestudied. Firm adhesions between the ventral dura and the posterior longitudinal ligamentwere:-found in 66 per cent of lumbar disc prolapse. These adhesions were present in aHcases of reoperations for intervertebral disc displacement and of lumbar canal stenosis.
