43 dislocation-fractures of the ankle with maleolar fracture, treated along the last fiveyears (1978-1983) are reported. The early surgical treatment, reduction and internal fixationare considered.The axial rigid internal fixation in the fibular maleolo may lead to stiffness and lateankle osteoartbritis.There is no difference between the results obtained by surgical treatment and closetreatment by in the former one the recovery was archieved in a shorter period.
