Resumen (ES)

Specimen biopsies taken from the paraspinal muscles in patients with idiopathic seoIiosiswerc studicd. The spccimen were taken from thc muscles of thc convex and concavesides with the aim of observing the possible significativc different findings between thern.Light microscopy and histochemical and morphometrical examination showed evidcntpathological changes, but with no significant specific differences. However, the localizedmusclc changos, central-core, and grouping fibers suggest idiopathic scoliosis to be a separatedisease en which the central nervous systern rnay be involved in its development.Besides, the type I fibers showed higher morphometric differences on cach side.
