The contact areas on the articular surface of a normal ankle in neutral position under a35 Kgs. load is studied using dying. After the section of the syndesmosis tibiofibular ligaments,the contact areas of the three compartiments were smaller, therefore it is an interestingfact in the treatment of the ankle fractures.
