An experimental study in 24 rabbits is reported; osteochondral defects in the weightbearingarea of the cartilage of the medial condile were made, being filled with an osteochondralgraft taken from the femoral articular surface of the femoral patella joint. Theanimals were sacrified after three days, in one, two, three, four, six, eight, ten, twelve,sixteen, eighteen and twenty weeks.The examination microscopy and triptium timidine uptake showed the cartilage toremain alive along the all experience, increasing its thickness until the surrounding cartilageleve), but without any real continuity. The bone part of the graft is rebuilt perfectlyby creeping substitution.
