Resumen (ES)

Osteoporotic fractures of the hip are associated to
a high rate or morbimortality. To have suffered a previous
fracture of this type is among the risk factors for suffering a
new one. Objective: To know the epidemiology of the patients
suffering an osteoporotic fracture in the Hospital “Virgen de
la Victoria”, Málaga. Patients and Methods: It has been included
the women that have suffered an osteoporotic fracture in
any bone. It is a statistic indagatory study to know the epidemiologic
profile of these patients. We have used the GIOS
(MSD®) database. In this database it have been included the
anthropomorphic characteristic of the patients, risk factors,
and the treatment that they have received previously. Results:
We have seen a higher proportion of patients with a weight
over 57 kgr. (84 %), a maternal history of hip fracture has been
found in 12 % of the patients. Visual patology is present in
about a 50%, as well as inability to rise up from a chair.
Discusion: The use of a database where to store the characteristics
of the patients at risk for suffering an osteoporotic
fracture is an useful tool to prevent a second one. In our database
we have found a discrepancy in the weight of the
patients as a risk factor. The implantation of such a tool has
modified our pharmacological, hygienic and food recommendations
to this patient in order to prevent the appearance of
such a fractures.
