Resumen (ES)
An epidemiologic analysis is made of 306 patients with femoral shaft fractures attended between 1977 and 1986. The authors have referred in the final results only to the 228 cases with a complete foIlow up.Traffic accidents habe been the principal cause of injury (76''8%), and the greatest incidence was in men of 15-25 years.Open fractures accounted for 14''7%, and there was only 3''7% of neurovascular troubles.
Surgical treatment was carried out in 70% ofthe cases, bloodless was made because they were moved to other hospitals. In intramedullary nailing support is permited 32''3 days after operating, and in ostheosyntesis withplates 82''3 days after.58''5% of the patients were cured definitively between 6 and 8 monts after. The complete result following the criterions ofDenker and Connolly was good in 85''9%, regular in 11''8%, and bad in 1''30/0.
