Twenty-five from 440 cases of hip arthroplasty were treated by rescue operation because of mechanical failures after the first operation. The resurfacing model of arthroplasty: gave the poorest results. In 7 patients (28%) the results were very poor. The complications are analysed and the bíblíography is revíewed. The authors hop the new types of cementless prothesis are the best solution for these failures.
