Musculoskeletal disorders are one of the most frequent causes of disability, handicap and demand for
medical attention. Knowledge of musculoskeletal medicine (MSM) should be essential for most specialties.
Unfortunately, many medical interns (MIR) admit to a lack of confidence and competence in this area. The
aim of this paper is to perform a narrative review of the level of knowledge and skills acquired in
musculoskeletal pathology of medical graduates in different countries. The data show that the teaching of
MSM is deficient during the academic period. Its essential to plan training actions that lead to an increase in
knowledge and skills in this pathology in medical students. Optimisation of pregraduate teaching in MME will
help to improve healthcare, make the system more agile, and allow better screening of specialised referrals
